Through its non-profit Visteon Fund, Visteon Corporation is
contributing US$ 200,000 over four years to the Michigan Science Center
(MiSci), a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
(STEM)-focused museum in Detroit. The donation, to be made in US$ 50,000 installments starting this year, underscores
the global automotive supplier's commitment to igniting an interest in
STEM education among children.
MiSci will put the Visteon Fund donation toward its many engaging activities, community outreach programs, traveling exhibits and more. MiSci offers an interactive approach to science, with hands-on exhibits, live shows, theaters and more.
"This is part of our ongoing effort to invest in the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators, and enhance the communities where we do business," said Tim Leuliette, Visteon President & CEO. "The Michigan Science Center plays a key role in inspiring curious minds of all ages to discover, explore and appreciate science, technology, engineering and math. As an innovative company based in southeast Michigan, Visteon is pleased to be a partner in the growth of this important Detroit-based institution."
Dr. Tonya Matthews, President & CEO, Michigan Science Center, added, "We are thankful for the continued operational support from leading STEM companies in the area, such as Visteon. This contribution will assist us in strengthening MiSci's role as the STEM hub of greater Detroit and Michigan, and will enable us to touch the lives of families statewide."
